CONTACT LENSES

Key abbreviations for lenses prescriptions:

  1. OD - right eye in the language of eye doctors;
  2. OS - left eye;
  3. BC - Base curvature, basically how round are your eyes. Usually between 8.3-9.0 (8,6 is the most common);
  4. DIA- diameter. It shows how large the lens is. Usually more important when shopping for colored contact lenses. Usually between 14.00 to 15.00 mm. Some crazy lenses are even 17 or 22 and sclera lenses cover the eye entirely.

In some cases there could be additional values on the prescription:

  1. Cyl - cylinder (toric lenses);
  2. Ax - Axis 0-180 degrees (toric lenses);
  3. Add - for multifocal lenses.

First of all, be sure to note that the prescription for lenses is not the same as the prescription for eyeglasses. You can get a prescription for lenses if you go to an ophthalmologist or optometrist if you wish. We recommend that you visit an optometrist who works with larger opticians and the queues are not long. An optometrist will prescribe your lenses and also teach you how to use and care for them. If you have a recipe, you can already conveniently order the right lenses from Pupilo!

Yes, our firm recommendation is that you should have a prescription for your lenses before ordering them. This ensures that the lenses are still comfortable in the eye and safe for your eyes. This is especially important if you want to use the lens daily.

In unopened packaging, contact lenses last a very long time, in most cases at least 2 years!

This should definitely not be done, as you may damage both your eyes and your friends' eyes. Namely, substances that come into contact with foreign eyes when changing lenses can cause an inflammatory reaction. Also, the right eye lens should not be placed in the left eye and vice versa, as both eyes have their own microflora.

With colored contact lenses, it is very difficult to predict how certain lenses will look in your eyes. All eyes are different and therefore the result is different. Therefore, suitable colored lenses are found by trial and error. However, our experience shows that dark brown eyes can also be turned blue. See our selection of blue lenses here.

Contact lenses can be used as early as 11-12 years of age because at this age children can already put on and take off the lenses independently and take care of the lenses. In fact, there are exceptions when the lenses are worn by very young children, but then there is a serious visual impairment and the contact lenses are put in the eye of someone else.

It mainly depends on what contact lenses you use. Today, there are already lenses that can be worn for a month without taking them off. You can find our overnight lenses here.

Yes, if you have eyes of the same power, you can simply buy one pack of lenses and they will fit in both eyes. However, in terms of hygiene, it is important that if you have already worn one lens in your left eye, you should continue to wear it only in your left eye and vice versa. The symbols "L" (left) and "R" (right) on the top of the container also help to distinguish the lenses.

We recommend removing the lenses before going to the sauna (and also to wash or swim), as dryness and heat can promote dryness, itching, and redness. However, we would definitely recommend using 1-day lenses and eye drops if you can't do otherwise. See our one-day lenses here.
